Android-Exploit schleust beliebige Apps ein | Mobile Security | CyberSecurity

Android-Exploit schleust beliebige Apps ein | Mobile Security | CyberSecurity | Apps and Widgets for any use, mostly for education and FREE | Scoop.it

Mobile Statistics - Retail mobile apps are maliciously duplicated and republished | MobileSecurity | Apps and Widgets for any use, mostly for education and FREE | Scoop.it

A study of 40 mobile commerce apps shows hackers are posting copies of retailers’ apps to secondary app stores, copies designed to capture and transmit confidential customer information that can be used to commit fraud.

90% of Android retail mobile apps and 35% of Apple iOS retail mobile apps have been duplicated and published to secondary app stores by hackers seeking to disrupt retailers’ mobile activities or collect confidential customer information that can be used to make fraudulent transactions, according to the Third Annual State of Mobile App Security report from Arxan, a web and mobile security technology firm. A secondary app store is any app store other than Google Play, the primary Android app store, and the Apple App Store, the primary Apple iOS app store.

Android malware spies on you even after phone is shut down | Mobile Security | CyberSecurity

Android malware spies on you even after phone is shut down | Mobile Security | CyberSecurity | Apps and Widgets for any use, mostly for education and FREE | Scoop.it
A particularly devious new Android malware can make calls or take photos even if you shut the device down, according to security research firm AVG.

To achieve this, the malware hijacks the shutting down process — making it appear as though your Android device is shutting down. You see the animation, the screen goes black, but the phone is actually still on.

Improved Simplocker variant hits Android users hard | Mobile Security | CyberSecurity | Apps

Improved Simplocker variant hits Android users hard | Mobile Security | CyberSecurity | Apps | Apps and Widgets for any use, mostly for education and FREE | Scoop.it
The initial version used a unique encryption key for all victims, which allowed Avast to create a free removal tool for the unfortunate victims to use.

But that ship has now sailed, as Simplocker developers have upped the ante and the latest variant of the malware now encrypts files with a different key on each device.

According to Nikolaos Chrysaidos, Avast Android malware and security analyst, this new variant has already infected more than 5,000 unique users. They have been tricked into installing the malware by malicious ads on shady sites, as it poses as a Flash Player app.
