Book Week starts Friday the 22nd. There will be events countrywide.

The BBIA's 2018 Book Week event was well attended, with many authors and publishers there with a selection of their works. The poetry readings and plays at the Wildfire Artzmosphere were fun and entertaining too.

Tomorrow is the first day of Book Week, which celebrates books and reading, and encourages discussion of the significance of reading and writing, and how it affects educational advancement. The BBIA, ISCR, and NICH invite everyone to the George Price Centre tomorrow at 9:00am for the event.
In related news, the Belize Book Industry Association will be having a Book Fair at the Cayo Welcome Center on Friday at 6:30pm.

The Belize Book Industry Association kicked off Book Week yesterday at the Cayo Welcome Center. They had fun and games, and there were a lot of books to peruse. In the evening, they had a Literary Evening at the Soul Project. It continues today.

The Rotaract Club of San Ignacio went to Nazarene Primary school to do some storytelling during Book Week. Great way to get the kids interested in reading. Thanks, Rotaract!
"Rotaract Club of San Ignacio was part of Literacy Week this week. Four of our Rotaractors visited Nazarene Primary School in San Ignacio, and read along with a Standard III class stories written by Dr. Brown, a Rotarian. This literacy project is in relation to the Literacy Project of the Rotary E-Club of the Southwest USA, District 5510. The children learned, laughed and loved the stories! We all had a great time. 29-04-2013"

"The Economic History of Belize," written by Barbara and Victoria Bulmer- Thomas, had its launch yesterday to coincide with Book Week. Plus TV interviewed the president of the Belize Book Industry Association. Happy Book Week!
"I believe it is an important book because it presents the economic history of Belize. We always hear about the history of Belize, but we never see an economic view of the history of Belize, which takes into account everything that has happened in the context of history and geography and I think that’s why it is important. It presents the facts eloquently and in a simple way, so it is a book that is accessible to students and to the general public."
