Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture

"No Littering" is a great tag line for CAWS, and their Spay and Neuter Clinics! They're planning one for next Saturday in Bullet Tree. It'll be free, and will start at 9am. They are looking for volunteers to help out.

The Cayo Animal Welfare Society is having low cost clinics in Bullet Tree on the 15th and 16th, and in Succotz and Benque on the 22nd and 23rd.  More will be announced soo.  Please share the fliers, and they are asking for volunteers.  Thanks, CAWS, for helping keep the animal populations in check.

We are trying to organize a day in Unitedville but if that falls through we will do an additional day in San Ignacio. We will know tomorrow. We are waiting for one more detail and then will post the remaining flyers for San Ignacio and Cristo Rey.

We still need a few volunteers in each location.

Video of the day.  Daniel Velazquez has made another video with footage from the 1st No Styrofoam No Plastic Summer Camp.  They are getting ready for the 2nd annual Summer camp. 

Bullet Tree has closed the access to the river due to all the trash left and pollution occurring there.  This video reminds everyone that littering in the river is unacceptable.  It's easy to clean up after oneself.

The 2018 Cayo Race for Conservation is happening on Sunday the 28th.  It's the BWRC's prep run for the Chiquibul Marathon, and it's from Hode's to Bullet Tree and back.

"After the holidays we hope you are ready to put your running/walking shoes on, get in the groove and join us once again for the 2nd Cayo Race for Conservation on the 28th of January. We hope to encourage fitness and enjoyment of nature, right in our backyards, in the beautiful Cayo Hills. This 5k/10k race is scheduled 3 weeks prior to the Chiquibul Challenge Marathon (CCM) so you can check if you are ready for this special event. The first prize for the 10k is a free entrance to CCM. The route is from Hode's place to Bullet Tree and back."

Cayo is getting a Lazer Combat arena!  It's off Bullet Tree road, past the hospital.  They'll have many different types of game formats.  Their grand opening is next Saturday, June 1st.  Check out their website for more information and rates.

The SISE HoC will be Launching the No Styrofoam Kids Summer Camp exhibit on Thursday, October 4th.  Everyone is invited to see the exhibit, and hear about the story behind the unique Summer Camp.

"As promised, we will be exhibiting the results of our '1st No-plastic, No-styrofoam Kids Summer Camp, 2018,' which we held in Bullet Tree Falls, for 50 kids, during July. Please see the invitation below for details on the opening ceremony. Also, take note that the exhibit will be displayed at the NICH House Of Culture in San Ignacio Town, from the 4th to 18th of October. Feel free to visit anytime!"

"The GREAT Summer Camp in Bullet Tree was a huge success. They had the closing ceremony at the Immaculate Conception primary school.  Corporal Medina, from Bullet Tree, did a fantastic job organizing the event.  Chief Rosado gave the closing address. Thanks to everyone that made this happen!"

It's been a month since the incredible A Trip to Melville Rave in Bullet Tree.  Over 12 hours of nonstop EDM on the mighty Mopan.  The pre-party was at the Soul Project, and they had a Sunday all day party again at the Pool House.  Amazing DJ's, and no microphones.  The next one is being planned.

"The 2nd event done by the Mind & Me record label was full of music, lights, dancing, splashing, and wild memories. Fun times were had and great new friends were made while Night Quest and Matt Hoy mixed the night away with some new and classic EDM mixes. The crew from Chachi's Pizza came all the way from Placencia to create some live electronica. Happy birthday to Melanie KC! Your party won't soon be forgotten."

Congratulations, Vanilla Hills Lodge!  The Bullet Tree B&B took 1st place in Central America on Trip Advisor's Top 25 B&B's.  Well done!
