The DoE is having a World Environment Day Nature Photo Contest. One of the prizes is a trip to Cockscomb Basin, and another is to Half Moon Caye.

'World Environment Day is celebrated every year on June 5th and this year to celebrate the Department is doing a video competition based on the theme for this year. The theme is "Land restoration, desertification and drought resilience." This theme encourages communities to take action towards protecting the environment.'

The DoE is offering assistance to those planning community service projects.  If you have an idea for a project, now's the time to apply.  The application deadline is October 20th.

Video of the day.  The Department of the Environment has a short video out about refusing single use plastic bags.  Definitely worth a watch.  Nicely done, DoE.  Single use plastics are on their way out.

The Department of Environment is having a video contest for World Environment Day, with the theme being 'Wildlife in Belize.'  It's for primary and high school students, and there are prizes, including a domestic trip.  Rules are here.

The 20th annual La Ruta Maya is just 1 week away, and the Department of the Environment made a breathtaking video highlighting the Belize River.  The Belize River is life, and it needs to be taken care of.  Thanks, DoE!
