World Culture Band at Flayva's

World Culture Band at Flayva's | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

The World Culture Band has been playing at Flayva's on Sundays.  Burns avenue has a completely new vibe now that Flayva's and Wing Stop work together to bring music and culture to downtown Cayo.  They've had a lot of beer specials too, from Heineken to Carib to Kubuli.

Flayva's Fresh Roast Coffee

Flayva's Fresh Roast Coffee | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

Falyva's Fresh Roast Coffee is delicious, and can be found on Burns avenue, at Flayva's Restaurant.  It's great to have such high quality coffee made locally.  They sell it by the pound too.  You can see the special machine they use to roast and grind it there too.

"Flayva's Fresh Roast Coffee is Cayo's best coffee. The beans are roasted and ground here in Cayo, at Flayva's restaurant.  The coffee beans come from the 'As Green As It Gets' farmer's cooperative in Antigua, Guatemala, ensuring they are top quality - Fancy grade, as it's called.  If you'd like to order some, call Mark Mossiah at 662-4853, email coffee@flayvasbarandgrill.com, or stop by 22 Burns avenue."

Laughing to Cayo on a Chicken Bus in Belize

Laughing to Cayo on a Chicken Bus in Belize | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

While the Hi Et hostel is mentioned, this article highligts the trip to Cayo on the bus.

"The bus from Belize City to San Ignacio costs $7 bzd ($3.50 US)...We choose to travel this way. We could certainly afford traveling otherwise, but for us the value is in the experience not the dollars spent. And for now, this is the experience we choose.

We want to live in Belize, experience Belize, not just observe Belize."

Well said.

"We roll past nicely maintained little plots of land with cows grazing, a few homes that look like estates and then more typical homes of Belize. I like this Belize. It’s varied and abundant. We pass TeaKettle Village, where we buy our organic produce, more citrus fields and a large field full of papaya trees. The land is flat with a few patchwork lots that have remained ‘jungly’, but the land here is mainly farmland surrounded by hills."

Belize in America in Belize

Belize in America in Belize | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

Video of the day.  'Belize in America' is in Belize, and they made a great video, with Supa G doing the well placed music, from all around Belize.  Cayo is the main focus, of course.  Pop's restaurant is shown, as is the Guava Limb, and Flayva's, where Mark Mossiah roasts some coffee.  Xunantunich is featured too, and it ends as they cross over the Hawkesworth Bridge.

"Belize in America is currently traveling all over the Jewel (Belize), producing videos ranging from the stories of prominent Belizean figures to major sights, eateries, recreational spots and resorts.  This mission, we believe, will inspire, encourage and empower Belizeans at home and in the diaspora.  If you would like to be featured (business or individual), feel free to email us at info@BelizeinAmerica.net."

Flayva's has made a great name for itself, along with some amazing food.  They've gotten some great reviews on Trip Advisor.  They are a staple of Cayo's Burns avenue, creating some great Belizean food.  Destiny Tours is located right inside too.

Flayva's gets an amazing review

They spelled 'escabeche' incorrectly, but the point was made, Flayva's is awesome!  "We waved over a local pedestrian and asked for a good authentic meal. He suggested, well actually led us all the way, to Flayva's. We were not disappointed."
