5 Reasons Why September in Belize is Awesome!

5 Reasons Why September in Belize is Awesome! | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

Happy September!  Chaa Creek has a great article out about September.  Well said about the longest holiday season in the hemisphere.

"From September 10, when the nation comes alive to commemorate the 1798 Battle of St George’s Caye until New Year’s Day, Belize is in fiesta mode.  St George’s Caye Day is followed by Independence Day on September 21, which is followed by Day of the Americas (which those of you over the age of 12 may remember as Columbus Day) on October 12.  Then there’s Garifuna Settlement Day on November 19, leading up to Christmas Day and Boxing Day, with Halloween as well as local celebrations and religious observations thrown in for good measure."

Paul Nabor, the great Belizean singer and songwriter, will be coming to Cayo for 2 shows the weekend before Garifuna Settlement day.  He'll be playing at the Soul Project on Saturday, November 16th, and the Cayo Welcome Center on Sunday, November 17th.  Running W Meats and the San Ignacio Resort Hotel are sponsoring the concerts, which are both free.
