Modern Maya Documentary

Sandro Teck, a well known artist from Bullet Tree Falls, is highlighted in the documentary about the Maya in the modern day.  Scott Saiz, one of the New Mexico State University students who took the Belize Documentary Film course over the Summer, did this wonderful documentary, which not only features Sandro and his family, but also manages to capture some of Belize's wildlife at the same time.  Xunantunich is shown in the documentary too.  They even go spearfishing in the Mopan to catch some fish.  Well worth the watch.

Film School Promo - Faculty Cut

Film School Promo - Faculty Cut | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

The Belize Documentary Film School has a newly edited video that focuses on the faculty from the class.  Carol and Richard Foster, and Illana Lapid lead the class, with help from Daniel Valezquez.  This video documents the New Mexico State University film students as they interact with people and nature around Cayo, and Belize, during their documentary film course.  Once again, it's a well done, feelgood video, and you'll see some faces you know from around Cayo.

"Look forward to seeing the films the students produce, we will showcase them in our new San Ignacio film festival, along with other local films."

Daniel Velazquez created a short video documenting the New Mexico State University film students and their interaction with people and nature around Cayo and Belize during their documentary film course.  They shot a lot, and learned a lot.  It's a well done, feelgood video, and you'll see some faces you know from around Cayo.

Creative Kaos Premiere Screening

Creative Kaos Premiere Screening | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

Creative Koas, the documentary about the making of Kurse a di Xtabai, was shown Friday night at the Soul Project.  The directors of both movies, Daniel Velazquez and Matthiew Klink, were there to answer questions from all the film students from New Mexico State University, who are in Cayo doing their own documentaries.  Creative Kaos was as great as its name implies.
