Rotary is having their annual orthopedic clinics around Belize starting next Monday, when they’ll be here in Cayo at La Loma Luz and Western Regional.  Thanks, Rotary!

Both Rotary Week and Rotaract Week were this month, as well as World Rotary Day, but this has been an amazingly active month for all the clubs around Cayo, from Benque to SI to Belmopan.  They are finishing up the bathrooms at Howard Smith Nazarene.  They have started on bathrooms at New Life.  They had the big dedication at Rotary Park after having added new playground equipment.  They've fixed up Pedro Guerra Mena park.  They've cleaned up Parque de las Americas. And, they've inducted some new Rotaract members along the way too.

Thanks, Rotary and Rotaract, for never slowing down with all the wonderful work you've been doing around Cayo. 

In related news, they are getting ready for the 13th annual Voice of the West Contest, which will be on April 16th at Hode's.  And they've started up Sunday Bingo again.  The annual Wine and Cheese fundraiser is April 25th.

The Belize Duck Race is coming.  You could win $1,000,000.  It's a fundraiser for the community projects that the Rotary Club of Belmopan is undertaking.  It'll happen on November 29th, at the Hawkesworth Bridge.

"The Rotary Club of Belmopan is holding the first ever annual Belize Duck Race on Saturday, November 29th, 2014, in San Ignacio, Cayo District.  The Rotary Club of Belmopan will use the funds from this event to continue its efforts towards community projects and existing initiatives focused on children’s health.  Yellow rubber ducks will be dropped into the Macal River from the Hawkesworth Bridge, San Ignacio, Cayo at approximately 11:30AM and will race down to the Low Lying Bridge.  The day of the race will be an exciting, fun day with something for the entire family."

Feelgood news of the day.  The Rotary Club of Belmopan rallied the community together to paint the Belmpan hospital.  The finished corridors really look great.  It's awesome to see all the youth getting involved with community service projects.  Thanks, Rotary!

"This is the type of project that touches on much of what Rotary is all about – serving the community, developing human capacity and increasing fellowship.  There were many people involved in this project – hospital staff, club members, Rotaractors, spouses, children and friends – really to many to name individually.  We would like to thank everyone that was involved!!  Everyone contributed to the successful completion of this effort.  Also, a special thanks goes out to Builder’s Hardware for helping to contribute the paint for the effort – their continual support for efforts like this is much appreciated!!  Finally, of all the things that came out of this, it was the involvement of many children that was the most rewarding.  Hopefully, it will help them develop a desire for developing lives of service that will stick with them throughout their lives."

The date is set for the 2nd annual Belize Duck Race.  It'll start at the Hawkesworth Bridge, and will happen on November 21st.  All proceeds go towards Rotary community service projects.

The Rotary Club of Belmopan is having their annual Wine and Cheese Party to raise funds for the Belize Children's Project.  They've been preparing for the fundraiser this week.  It'll be happening on the 25th of April, starting  at 7:00pm, at the George Price Centre.  They'll have some great raffle prizes, and will have the silent auction, which always has some great items. 

"Preparing for the upcoming Wine and Cheese can be fun - especially when done with family and friends. A big effort is being made this year to do great decorations and that takes preparation.  So a group of Rotarians and fantastic friends and family got together to make some special decoration.  Much thanks goes out to everyone involved - your efforts will help make this a special event and help a group of kids receive medical help that will last a lifetime!!"

The Rotary Club of Belmopan had another blood drive at UB, and they hit a new record of38 pints.  Thanks, Rotary!

"Another blood drive ('Your Gift of Life') was held at UB working along wth several members of the blood donation team at the Western Hospital.  It was wonderful working with them and it was great to have several club members (and in one case a daugher) involved in donating and helping the donation process.  It was a record day with 38 pints of blood donated!!  The record was obtained in part because several athletes helped recruit students - we could not have done this without them.  Thanks!  Also, thanks to everyone willing to donate - your willing to donate will certainly help dozens of people with health issues here in Belize!!"

Feelgood news of the day. Rotarians from Canada that partner with the Belmopan chapter came back to check up on and fix the playground that they originally put in at Our Lady of Guadalupe.  Thanks, Rotary!

"Recently Rotarians from Canada returned to repair playground equipment that they initial brought from their home country.  Some local Rotarians helped as well...great for our fellow Rotarians from Canada to come back to make sure that the equipment is in good shape!"

The Rotary Club of Belmopan is having their annual Wine and Cheese party fundraiser tomorrow night at the George Price Centre.  They'll have their famous silent auction, and raffles and plenty of suprises.  This will help fund their Belize Children's Project, which helps get treatment for children with osteopathic diseases, greatly improving their quality of life.  Thanks, Rotary!
