Hobbs Brewing Co. Opens New Brewery in Belize

Hobbs Brewing Co. Opens New Brewery in Belize | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

Great news on the beer front.  Belize is getting 2 new choices of beer, starting this Easter.  The Hobbs Brewing Company's Wildcat IPA and Hummingbird Belizean Golden Ale will be officially launched this Easter in Placencia.  If you're visiting Placencia before Easter, they do already have it available.  The cans, which have a full 12 ounces, are artistic and unique.

"Hobbs Brewing Co., which opened as brewpub in New Hampshire, in 2014, will begin distribution with 12 oz. cans and kegs throughout Placencia, Belize, in April...

Hobbs will feature two beers as it begins production in Central America: Wildcat IPA and Hummingbird Belizean Golden Ale.

Wildcat IPA, so named because Belize is home to the world’s largest Jaguar preserve, is a 6 percent ABV India Pale Ale featuring a tropical and citrusy hop character. Wildcat is the only IPA available in the country. Meanwhile, Hummingbird is a light, crisp and easy-to drink ale that is just 4.7 percent ABV.

They will be sampling these beers at the upcoming Easter Festival in the Village of Placencia on April 20."

Nice article with some great pictures about a Belize vacation, with 4 days in Cayo.  They really caught some spectacular shots of everything from basalisks to hummingbirds to owls.  They rave about how much they loved Pook's Hill the most.

"Of the four places we stayed on the trip, Pook’s Hill was undeniably my favorite and I think everyone else would agree.  The accommodations were excellent, the food extraordinary, and the owner and all of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and seemed thrilled to have us stay and enjoy their little place in paradise.  Wandering the grounds were a few prehistoric-looking Basilisk Lizards generally sunning themselves and waiting for flying insects, such as this male...  Another fascinating experience at Pook’s Hill was listening to a mating pair of Spectacled Owls calling to each other from their hidden perches near our cabanas at dusk, and one night spotting an immature sitting in a leafless tree, apparently not yet having learned the importance of leaves for concealing your presence."

Feelgood news of the weekend.  The San Ignacio Resort Hotel has some new baby hummingbirds.  These pictures have an extremely high cuteness level.  Here's to the happy new hummingbird family.

"Imagine how much energy we put into ensuring the birth of our child happens at the perfect place.  It seems this Mommy Hummingbird did the same.  She wanted only the best for her young ones so she chose to have her babies, in Luxury, here at the San Ignacio Resort Hotel.  We welcome these young ones to our wildlife family and to the many species of birds we have here at the San Ignacio Resort Hotel."
