Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture

UB is participating in The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence by having seminars this week at all campuses.  There will also be female self defense classes in Cayo and Benque on Friday.

"The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence is an international campaign originating from the first Women's Global Leadership Institute sponsored by the Center for Women's Global Leadership in 1991. Participants chose the dates, November 25, International Day Against Violence Against Women and December 10, International Human Rights Day, in order to symbolically link violence against women and human rights and to emphasize that such violence is a violation of human rights."

4 the World and the Benque House of Culture are doing another free female self defense class today.  It'll be at the Benque HoC at 4:00pm.  They did the first class yesterday, and there was a great turnout.  The training was lead by Robbie Russell.

The Benque House of Culture, along with everyone in Cayo, thanks 4 the World Belize for bringing in Robbie Russell to teach the self defense workshops for women and children.  We'd also like to thank Renee Wentz, UB's counselor, for doing a class here in Cayo.  More classes should be coming.

There will be free female self defense classes today and tomorrow in Benque, starting at 4:00 at the Benque House of Culture's lawn. 4 the World and the Benque HoC are putting them on free of charge. Kudos to them!
