The Rotary Club of Belmopan is doing their annual Orthopedic Clinics, and they'll be in Cayo on Monday, June 20th, at La Loma Luz in the morning, and at the Western Regional Hospital in the evening.  Thanks, Rotary! 

"The Rotary Club of Belmopan, in collaboration with the Illinois Rotary District 6510 and WPP, announces its annual Orthopedic Clinic, for the Belize Children's Program, with Orthopedic Surgeon from St. Louis, Missouri, Dr. Coles L'Hommedieu.  We see children (up to age 18) who are in need of orthopedic care suffering from neck, spine, shoulder, arm, elbow, hand, hip, leg, knee, foot and other types of bone problems and abnormalities"

Rotary is sponsoring an orthopedic clinic at La Loma Luz Hospital and the Western Regional Hospital on July 10th.  Thanks, Rotary!

Feelgood news of the day.  Thanks, Peacemakers!  They painted the pediatric ward at the Western Regional Hospital.  Great job!

"A group of Belmopan youth, ages 13-16, who call themselves the 'Peacemakers,' spent more than a month painting the pediatric ward at the Western Regional Hospital in Belmopan with colorful artwork and wall hangings.  The completion of the decorating project will be celebrated on October 29.  Many of the Peacemakers have themselves been treated in the hospital or have visited younger siblings and cousins.  Because they know how frightening the experience can be, they decided to do something to make the experience less stressful."

Feelgood news of the day.  Mother's Day was celebrated with something special at the Wester Regional Hospital, thanks to the Rotaract Club of Belmopan.  Thanks, Rotaract!

"The Rotaract Club of Belmopan delivered fruit baskets to the mothers' at the Western Regional Hospital for Mother's Day.  On behalf of the Rotaract Club of Belmopan, we wish all mothers a Happy Mother's Day!!!!"

The Western Regional Hospital got certified as Mother-Baby Friendly, and they had a great turnout for the ceremony.

"A very nice Mother-Baby Friendly Certification Ceremony at the western Regional Hospital was held this morning.  There were moms talking about the benefits of breast feeding, nurses, Minister of Health, Representative from unicef & many other people.  They shared jingles that they came up with during their training (about 96 % of the staff - clinical & non-clinical were trained: 170+ persons).  Awards were issued as well as pins to the audience.  They also explained the significance of the pin.  Can you guess what it is?"
