Athletes who train using the same program and training techniques over a prolonged period often hit a "training plateau." A common response is to train harder and more often. Unfortunately, this is more likely to end in injury than any noticeable improvement in performance. This is a useful analogy for most SEO campaigns. Social Selling to Generate Sales Leads

Social Selling to Generate Sales Leads | Digital Marketing Power | Scoop.it

Social selling has replaced outbound selling as the go-to sales tactic in the modern buying process. If you use a systematic social media marketing process to educate your target audience and identify sales opportunities, you will be rewarded with business growth.

Gary Hitching's insight:

I don't personally agree with the author that social selling has replaced outbound selling.  I view social selling as another tool (albeit a very significant one) in the toolbox.  Highly targeted, intelligent outbound activity will always have a part to play in the overall marketing mix.  The scatter-gun approach to see what sticks however, is certainly not the way to go unless you want to alienate your prospects.  Businesses that use a combination of inbound and outbound tactics tend to maximise opportunities.

The 5 pillars of effective content marketing etiquette | Digital Marketing Power | Scoop.it
Companies have been telling stories in the name of selling products for decades (the old radio soap operas sponsored by laundry detergent companies are an early example). But nowadays, the rapid growth in content marketing has further blurred the lines between content and commerce. Brands can now create and publish “sponsored content” or “sponsored stories” everywhere from Huffington Post to TheAtlantic.com, sometimes sparking controversy in the process. Promoting Brands in Real Time With Social Media

Promoting Brands in Real Time With Social Media | Digital Marketing Power | Scoop.it
The usual formula goes something like this: Marketers and advertisers spend huge budgets to craft their campaigns, then refine them over weeks or months until they find just the message that will reach their target audience. Now some companies are trying to squeeze all of that work into mere minutes. These advertisers are watching Twitter and other social networks to see what topics are getting the most attention, and putting together short blog posts, tweets and videos that match those themes—in hopes that the online audience will become more aware of the brand and see it as relevant to their interests and needs. Then, if one topic isn't getting attention anymore, the companies can drop it without much fuss, and switch gears quickly to follow the next hot discussion.
