Founded after the end of the second World War, the United Nations is an international organization made up of 193 countries committed to maintaining international peace and security. While the history of the United Nations is important, its future depends on what we do today. At a United Nations Conference in Rio de Janeiro in 2012, countries adopted a set of goals to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all as part of a new sustainable development agenda. These goals are referred to as The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This series will introduce you to each goal, deepen your familiarity with the history of the United Nations and ultimately make you an SDG champion to transform the world.
