À peine dévoilé, le nouveau projet de réalité virtuelle «Fever» réalisé par le duo Karolina Markiewicz et Pascal Piron a été sélectionné parmi les sept œuvres en compétition au sein de l’émanation VR (Virtual Reality) des Rencontres d’Arles.

C’est décidément une année faste pour les deux artistes luxembourgeois: après avoir été sélectionné avec leur projet «Sublimation» par le College Biennale Cinema VR pour viser la prochaine Mostra de Venise en septembre, c’est à présent leur dernière création, «Fever», exposée au Casino Luxembourg – Forum d’art contemporain jusqu’au 15 septembre 2019, qui a été choisie pour faire partie de la sélection compétitive du VR Arles Festival.

Ce festival connexe aux Rencontres photographiques, et dont la quatrième édition a lieu cette année, fait en effet de l’art immersif, des fictions et documentaires en réalité virtuelle le fil conducteur de sa programmation.

Le «Fever» du binôme Markiewicz-Piron est une expérience vidéo de réalité virtuelle d’environ huit minutes basée sur les sensations de déformation de la réalité, voire d’hallucinations, qui apparaissent lorsque le corps humain est soumis à une forte fièvre.

Following the success of its first edition last year, the Luxembourg Art Fair will be returning for a second time to LUXEXPO THE BOX between 30 November and 3 December 2017.

With 14,700 visitors to last year’s Luxembourg Art Fair, the event attracted the interest of many international galleries. This year, the fair will host more than 80 galleries from all over Europe and beyond with 4,000 art pieces on display in the lobby 8 (south entrance of The Box).

Among the 4,000+ works to be exhibited, will be prestigious artists such as Warhol, Miro, Chagall, Pasqua, Combas, Orlinski, Soulages and Jeff Koons, as well as the works of several emerging artists, from sculptors and painters to photographers and street artists.

Visitors to the art fair will also have the opportunity to discover the unique, unpublished works of Milo Manara, world leader artist in comics and illustration. Indeed, the artist will be present at the opening of the fair where he will unveil a preview his latest sculpture, a tribute to Brigitte Bardot that was recently inaugurated in Saint-Tropez to celebrate the 83rd anniversary of the film star.

In addition, the artist Philippe Shangti will attend the second edition of the Luxembourg Art Fair on Friday 1 and Saturday 2 December 2017.

The fair will be open 30 November and 1-3 December, Thursday from 18:00-23:00, Friday from 16:00-22:00, Saturday from 10:00-20:00 and Sunday from 8:00-22:00.

An American artist will be arriving in Luxembourg this month to take part in an emerging artist-in-residence programme at Bourglinster Castle.

Chris Maddox from Madison, Wisconsin, was selected by the Museum of Wisconsin Art (MOWA) for the programme, which is offered by MOWA exclusively to Wisconsin artists.

The mixed-media artist's work has previously been acquired by museums and private collectors in the US, Italy and Japan.

His current work focuses on book art projects and installation work.

MOWA executive director and chief executive Laurie Winters said Maddox "stood out as a rising star".

She added: "I know he will be inspired by the Luxembourg culture and community of artists to both grow and create while aboard."
